Salvador is an
electrical engineer from Purdue
University that began
his professional career with Texas Instruments Inc. His first position was as a
process engineer, where he had the opportunity
to work for a world class company that was mentioned as “excellent” in
the book In Search of Excellence
(1982) by Tom Peters and Robert Waterman.
This experience motivated him to pursue an MBA at
INCAE
Business
School. At INCAE,
Salvador was an
assistant to Noel Ramírez, Dean of Economics,
and as his assistant, Salvador analyzed
the performance of the economies of most of the Central American countries. His
understanding of the centralamerican economies
has always been one his passions.
After
graduation, he worked for Repuestos
Didea S.A., a division of the Grupo Poma, where he acquired extensive knowledge
of the automotive aftermarket spare parts. He returned to
Costa
Rica to manage
one of the first electronics installed companies here: Semicon Tec – established
in 1975 – now called WAI Semicon, where he installed cell manufacturing and JIT
concepts, achieveing impressive results for the
company.
He filled several management positionos at different international
companies, where he implements new and modern manufacturing concepts, continuous
improvement and quality improvement, ISO 9000, CGMP, energy savings projects and
high performance teamwork. He has always pursued continuous improvement and
improved performance from companies and personnel.
Salvador has
participated in internatinal business negotiations with different managers of
diverse cultures and countries from different parts of the planet, as he has
served different customers from America,
Europe, Latin
American and Asia.
